The trip took place in 1970 when we were 14 but the
year we left was 1972.
We went to the Ravenstor Youth Hostel in Derbyshire on
a Geography field trip for our C.S.E's. Everyone I know of had a good
time and I think we all got to know each other a bit better. We had a
coach driver called John who didn't want to be in the picture but
under pressure from a load of 14 year olds what could the poor man do?
The other adults in the pic were the owners of the hostel but I can
remember their name and Mrs V.M. Hall the teacher. So here goes with
the names all are left to right as you look at the pic:

The above are all I can really remember. I hope you can
make them out. Not bad for 30 years eh!
John Saunders was called "pepper bottom" by Mr Bremner because he couldn't sit still in class usually at the back.. We all used to call him rouge (pronounced roogee) as he had red cheeks all the time. He lived in All Saints Crescent. David Smithwhite wanted to become a lawyer (I don't know if he did). I have just got in contact with Steve Jenkins again. When I left school I moved away a couple of years later and have not been back or had any contact with anyone until now through Friends Reunited. I was so excited to find it. I have emailed John Coe also but not received a reply as yet. I have attached a couple of other pics from the trip. |
